About Elizabeth Barthmaier:
I am writing to express my interest in a leadership or advanced practice nursing role within your organization. I am a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner with over two decades of experience delivering and overseeing care for medically complex, often vulnerable populations—especially older adults in both urban and rural settings.
For over a decade, I worked at Mercy LIFE in Philadelphia, a PACE program focused on helping low-income elders maintain their independence. I evaluated patients in clinics, homes, and inpatient facilities, often blending primary care with palliative and hospice services to support patients’ goals of care. Later, at High Peaks Hospice in the Adirondacks, I brought that same person-centered approach to a very different environment—sometimes driving over 100 miles to reach patients in need. Most recently, I’ve continued this work at Amedisys Hospice in Maine, providing direct medical oversight and end-of-life counseling.
Throughout my career, I’ve led interdisciplinary teams, developed care protocols, and mentored nursing staff. I'm passionate about preserving dignity and independence for people as they age and as they near the end of life. I recently lost my husband, and as I relocate to Rhode Island to be closer to family, I find myself ready to reengage fully in meaningful work. I bring not only clinical skill but deep commitment, energy, and perspective.
Thank you for considering my application. I welcome the opportunity to contribute to a team that values compassionate, high-quality care. I’m available for an interview at your convenience and am relocating mid-summer, available to start a new position as early as mid-June.
Warm regards,
Elizabeth Barthmaier
