About Elise Peters:
I just graduated from Loyola with a bachelor's degree in environmental studies. At Loyola, I specialized in sustainable urban agriculture as Loyola's outdoor production garden manager. I have expertise in urban farm management, sustainable growing methods, food distribution, community engagement, as well as experience in administrative work on the managerial side of our business.
Experience
I have professional experience as an urban farm manager in Loyola's Urban Agriculture Program. In this role, I mentored thirty undergraduate and graduate interns in sustainable urban farming. I was responsible for all garden maintenance and cultivation as well as training interns and leading workdays.
I also completed a remote internship at a small environmental consulting firm based out of my hometown, Columbus, OH. In this role, I led an equity based tree canopy analysis project for a client and produced a published report to be sent to local Ohio governments to engage them in local canopy planting and maintenance. I was hired in this role due to my prior experience as a research assistant for Loyola School of Environmental Sustainability professor and clean energy specialist, Dr. Gilbert Michaud.
I also have professional experience in customer service from odd jobs at restaurants, country clubs, and garden centers prior to my more career-based experiences.
Education
I recently graduated Magna Cum Laude one semester early from Loyola University Chicago with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies in December 2024. Relevant classes I've taken at Loyola include but aren't limited to: introduction to GIS, environmental economics, sustainable business management, environmental policy, environmental chemistry, and environmental justice. I was honored to be a Dean's List recipient every semester I attended Loyola. (Fall 2021- Fall 2024)
