Experience
As a foundational member of the SMT team, helped expand the revenue and reputation of a growing security solutions business. At one point a two-man team with the owner, leveraged an ease with technology and a comfortable candor to transition successfully to sales leadership, playing a pivotal role in taking $300K in annual revenue to a $3.5M business.
- Responsible for half of company sales, achieved $1.5M in 2023 with a goal of +20% YoY.
- Closed a deal with the University of Utah – the company’s biggest to date – by focusing on truly solving problems and meeting needs, not merely passing products forward. Also closed significant deals with Brigham Young University, Huntsman Cancer Institute, and Wheeler Machinery.
- Leads a lean sales team and the charge into new markets, building strong partnerships centered on trust, communication, and a commitment to excellence.
- Took on the additional role of Project Manager, managing the activities of 12 other installers. Scheduled and assigned jobs at a range of hospitals, multifamily complexes, and individual businesses, overseeing large installations as well as an average of 10 smaller projects a day to quality completion. As the product base expanded to include security cameras and card access systems, onboarded and guided an additional project manager.
- Shifted to a sales role at a key inflection point for the business, which had separated from a prolific subcontract and needed to make up key revenue. Infused a non-salesy approach laced with technical straight talk, earning the respect and the business of maintenance managers across higher education, health care, and commercial properties. Garnered additional sales from previous industry contacts eager to stick with a rep they respected.
- Transitioned the company to cloud-based card access systems, increasing security and responsiveness to customers while positively impacting the business with subscription revenue.
- Serves as a touch point for industry/product expertise and customized, integrated solutions that enhance security, optimize operations, reduce costs, and flex with changing business needs. Product knowledge spans card access, video surveillance, automatic doors, automatic gates, parking equipment, and multifamily property smart systems.
