About David Rogers:

My name is David Rogers, and I am Optimizer-in-Chief at Coalescence CIO Advisory.

My passion is helping people to run their business while growing their business.

My experiences have led me to two areas where I believe I have a niche play:

  1. I examine challenges in the context of the business, specifically snapshots of the company – past and present – to suggest planning, resources, tactics, and roadmaps that are strategically informed and aligned.
  2. I focus on where business and technology intersect directly in the workplace – the data – and the people who create it, collect it, curate it and consume it. We map the data and the people to  the organization’s processes, tooling and control frameworks to reveal opportunities to improve performance.

I have supported C-level sponsored initiatives as a Management Consultant for firms in

  • Life Science / Biotech (Celgene, Novartis, Sanofi),
  • Insurance (Guardian, The Principal, Zurich Insurance) and
  • Cable/Cloud/Telecom (Comcast, Cox, Rogers, Sprint, Virtustream - A Dell Business).

I often served as a Business Architect, Governance Architect, Master Data Management SME or as Project or Program Manager. Many of these engagements were post-merger IT integrations, divestitures, and joint venture start-ups.

I have also been entrusted with three vertical (global, organizational) transformations through a position as the inhouse IT stakeholder.

  • I led a cross-functional team for three years to transform IEEE’s $130 million conferences business from a support team chasing tickets to a strategic partner of the organizers enabled by automation.
  • We modernized data management, product management and user support capabilities worldwide (and in multiple languages) while I was Head of Information for Morasha Olami.
  • We professionalized internal operations supporting clients and Backoffice teams as CIO / Director of Corporate Development at Knowledgent, where I also led tip of the spear client engagements, specifically for those companies adopting big data and advanced analytics into their operations.

It has not mattered whether this was in the for-profit or nonprofit sectors. Their business lifecycles are similar enough in essence.

This includes in the public sector, where I began my career as an urban planner. That position required working across jurisdictions (townships, counties, NJ state, federal) as a matter of course. Specifically, while at NJTPA, I worked directly with staff at NJDoT, NJT and FHWA, and independently with the Rutgers Transportation Institute.

If you have not experienced these kinds of transformations at work, it can be rough on people, companies, and markets. They rapidly adjust, or they don't. Either way, the turbulence deeply affects livelihoods of those affected first-hand as well as profits, regardless of how orderly it may seem to proceed from the outside.

I have gone through these periods my entire career. I learned some time back that Change and Uncertainty do not concern me. They look like Opportunities to me. I apply this characteristic to mitigating the strain of processing change on people and organizations through my work.

I'll take on the complexity for any sensible and dependable partner willing to back me. Whether it is driving change outcomes, stabilizing operational environments, or building new teams, tell me what you want, why and what that looks like for you and I can help you with the rest.
