I'm a newly graduated technician looking for work with the field of sterile processing/central service for hospitals and surgery centers!

I did a month and a half externship at Washington Hospital Healthcare System in Fremont, California. Learned a plethora of responsibilities along with on hands experience with decontamination, prepare and pack area, steam and sterrad sterilizers, rounds for medical equipment, inventory, crash cart assembly, and case cart pulling. Instrument sets I frequently interacted with ranged from general cases to neuro however it was mainly an influx or orthopedic instrument sets and equipment.

I completed my sterile processing program at Silicon Valley Surgi-Tech Institute in Milpitas, California. The program taught the students the core of what happens in the field of sterile processing like donning and doffing PPE for decontamination, what kind of water should be used, how to approach problems and what to refer to in times of confusion with chemicals and such. Also teaching students with on hands practice with wrapping techniques and weight distribution and quality check for surgical equipment.
