In graphic and web design– and in written communication– I value directness and clarity, while also prizing color and a sense of fun.

I believe that good design decisions are rooted in good ideas. I don’t want to make things that merely look handsome. I want design elements to have a reason for existing— even if that reason is to give the eye and the mind a moment of rest or delight. Call it rigor with vigor.

Freelance Graphic Designer, 2022- present. Created logos, cover art, and posters for print and web.

Freelance Research Assistant, 2015- present. Contributed research to Unsolved Murders: True Crime Cases Uncovered by Amber Hunt and Emily G. Thompson as well as the Crimes of the Centuries podcast.

Dunn Brothers Coffee (now Jones Coffee), 2006- present. Made drinks, assisted customers, made food, trained new hires, kept books and did banking, mediated conflicts with customers and among staff, performed inventory control.

 

Publication:

The Kennedy Wives: Triumph and Tragedy in America’s Most Public Family (Lyons Press, 2014), written with Amber Hunt. New York Times Bestseller. Conceived and drafted book proposal, performed original research, interviewed subjects, collaborated remotely with co-author and editor, produced 80,000 word manuscript on deadline, edited multiple drafts, did readings, interviews and other publicity after publication
