Services offered
My experience with coaching and managing group dynamics for the US State Department, the United Nations, Native American tribes, agencies and nonprofits has given me the appropriate training and experience to handle the duties of program development. With international travel, developing and delivering culturally appropriate training, and my experience participating in, reporting on and evaluating disaster preparedness for defined cascading strategies make me uniquely qualified to assist your agency in meeting regularly with corporate, international, national and local leadership to work to eliminate any cultural divide between the agency and community members utilizing your agency and to identify hinderances, enact mitigations, and economic gain for your agency. I do have experience with Asana and other Ai tools and formats, but I would not yet consider myself an expert.
Experience
I hold bachelor's degrees from the University of New Mexico, but my experience extends beyond the Southwest settings. For approximately 12 years, I worked as a contract agent for the US State Department’s Education and Cultural Affairs Division as a contract agent/Liaison, which brings established and emerging leaders from throughout the world for study with the best available programs in the United States. My responsibilities as Liaison included to assist in education and disbursement of information between the international leaders and numerous state and national agencies, and to help ensure the information as culturally appropriate, or to help in finding a way to communicate the information in a culturally appropriate manner. I continue to work closely with Global Ties agencies and schedule lecture sessions and meet with new and emerging leaders.
I was responsible for reporting information for the U.S. State Department programs and submitted my reports and recommendations for improvements in future programs. I also worked with a highly qualified list of participants and professionals from numerous state and local governments that included emergency management, victim’s recovery, medical facilities, fire science, law enforcement, media and outreach, transportation, utility provision, security, volunteerism, and food and water security and distribution.
Education
My training and participation under the US State Department and the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management program includes:
- Major disaster management issues, interagency and international cooperation, workshop on emergency management, federal-state-local cooperation, EMS/EMS Today training, as well as issues surrounding seasonal weather related occurrences such as hurricanes and winter blizzards, forest fires, earthquakes, floods, disaster risk reduction, airport safety, cruise ship safety, chemical/oil spill mitigation, refugees and lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina, Mississippi River floods and other past and recent disasters.
- Examining U.S. local, state and federal approaches to disaster management, emergency preparedness and emergency response.
- Examining how government, NGOs, community organizers, first responders, volunteers and media align in advance their emergency preparedness and response plans.
- Exploring the importance of community-based partnerships and strategies for developing emergency preparedness and response plans.
- Demonstrating the variety of emergency preparedness and response structures at federal, state and local levels, highlight current training practices and feature the constructive impact of community input.
- This training and participation have greatly developed my awareness of the potential for natural and human-originating threats to all nations, which include not just flooding, tornados, severe winter storms, wildfire, chemical spills, earthquakes, pandemics and the potential of terrorism, but also how the Philippines is prepared to respond to such events in the region, and/or coordinate efforts with federal response, Tribal communities, and neighboring governments.
