Courtney Tello

I enjoy science as a whole. I would idealing work in an environment that allows me to continue learning and be able to pass that knowledge on to the next generation. I am passionate about mentoring and visualizing scientific concepts. While in Dr. Martin's lab, I mastered fine motor skills that were required for experiments such as microinjections of zebrafish embryos, cell transplantation, and working with live embryos for imaging aquisition. In addition, I have become a critical thinker and am able to assist in project managment and general laboratory maintenance.

I have multiple experience while in graduate school that includes teaching assistant of two Undergraduate laboratory courses; Research Assistant in my PhD lab that included lab mantenance, ordering, mentoring, researching, animal care, collaborating, scientific writing and scientific communication; Scientific presentations of concepts or protocols and my research and its data. Prior to my time at Stony Brook University, I was a research intern at two univeristies: Colorado State University and Clemson University where I learned cloning techniques and mammalian cancer cell culture respectively. I also worked as a teaching assistant for the Microbiology undergraduate laboratory course assisting students understand and follow the lab as well as help troubleshoot microscope issues within the lab.
