Claire Peterson

As a Mass Media: Managment, Promotions, and Sales major with a minor in psychology and sociology from Illinois State University, I have a deep interest in understanding human behavior, communication, and emotions. With a strong ability to analyze individuals and groups, I possess a natural empathy that enables me to connect with others on a deeper level. My writing abilities and education from my major equips me with the skills to create targeted messaging that resonates with diverse audiences. I am the Vice President of my sorority and soon to be President. I value efficiency in communication, the importance of collaborations, and ensuring that individual and team goals are met. Overall, my diverse skillset and natural curiosity make me a valuable asset to any team. 

I have worked my way up in my Kappa Kappa Gamma chapter over the last two years by beginning with three coordinator positions (2022-2023), moving to board as Risk Manager (Fall 2022), and I am now the Vice President (2023).

I was a coordinator for Recruitment where I confirmed that all members of the sorority were present for our meetings concerning our recruitment process. During this process, I was also a coordinator for our bid day where I ensured everything needed for the event was purchased, and I made decisions with my team to run the event to success. 

Before I was Vice President, I was the coordinator for our former VP. 

As Vice President, my main focus is to educate members on our ritual for initiation. This involves informing them of our ceremony processions while ensuring that our new members feel comfortable and excited to become active members. I am responsible for organizing initiation materials, rituals, and recruiting alums to return and create a memorable experience for all. My aim is to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone can participate and actively engage in our chapter's traditions and values. I meet weekly with my executive board while overseeing the three positions in my department that I meet with biweekly. I meet with my headquarters advisor monthly to report the progress of my whole team.

This fall, I was a recruitment counselor for sorority recruitment at Illinois State. I attended DEI training sessions that focused on diminishing stereotypes and other related issues to ensure that sorority culture was welcoming to all members. During the recruitment process, I guided potential new members to ensure their comfort, safety, and listened to their concerns. 

I have been employed at Culvers since October 2022, where my primary focus is making sure that all customers leave satisfied and happy. I am committed to creating a welcoming environment by establishing meaningful connections with every customer that walks through our doors. By being attentive and engaging, I aim to make each customer feel valued and comfortable. Overall, customer satisfaction is my top priority, and I strive to exceed their expectations with every encounter.

From 2019-2023, I worked as a Receptionist and a Supervisor at River Run Clubhouse. I handled member inquiries and concerns related to the amenities of our facilities, either through phone conversations or face-to-face interactions. Aside from providing solutions, I also led tours for families who are interested in purchasing a membership. Additionally, I assisted in selling products and services, managed member relations, and created a warm and friendly environment for everyone. My goal being to ensure that all of our members are satisfied with their experience and feel comfortable in our facilities.

I am in my junior year of college at Illinois State University as a Mass Media: Management, Promotion, and Sales major with a double minor in Psychology and Sociology.
