Cheryl Bedenbaugh

I am a highly effective leader and manager with a proven track record of leading and managing teams of educators and professionals. As an effective communicator, I have the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, staff, and students. For over 20 years, I have been working in the field of education in the United States and abroad.

I am the school Assistant Principal at Sunrise Academy, a private school grades K-12 overseeing activities kindergarten through twelfth grade, leading staff and students to set goals and ensure objectives are met. Previously, I worked in the GCC as a teacher at Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, Ministry of Education, Al Mizhar American Academy with Taaleem in Dubai, and at Ajial Bilingual School in Kuwait.

Also, I am a Professor at several colleges. At Excelsior University, I teach undergraduate students in the Liberal Arts Capstones in the Psychology Department and received a faculty award nomination for Outstanding Support for Student Success, Retention, and Completion. At Seminole State College, I teach English to adults new to America in the English Language Institute.

As a school leader, I assist teachers in identifying and securing resources necessary to develop rigorous, engaging lessons, and lead efforts to vertically align standards and pacing. Through effective instructional strategies and dialogue with teachers, I participate in district efforts to develop a vision for the school year, following action steps and performance measures. Involving all modes of learning using higher-order critical thinking, and multiple intelligences promotes a wide range of learning styles and retention. Using data for assessment and curriculum planning based on the Florida standards, I assist teachers in analysis and interpretation, to identify strengths and needs in both the instructional program and individual students.
