Carly Cavanaugh

I am a second-year student at The George Washington University with a passion for media, including communications, writing, video production, literature, and the arts. Throughout high school, I was heavily involved in both the performance and marketing aspects of our drama department, along with interning at a local news publication. My current position of research assistant at the GW Hatchet has given me further insight and experience within the publishing sphere, and I am eager to continue to explore the media industry.

I have experience in both journalism and the service industry, interning for a local news organization and working for my school newspaper along with having had jobs at Playa Bowls and Starbucks. Through these experiences, I have gained experience in line editing, understanding the news industry, research, writing, and communications, along with gaining valuable customer service experience and learning the importance of time management and customer satisfaction.

I am currently a sophomore at the George Washington University, studying journalism and mass communication and English. Outside of my coursework, I am heavily involved in the student paper, writing articles, fact checking, and being a member of the editorial board. I am also involved in student radio and the Fashion and Business Association.
