Caprice Shaffer

Hi!! I'm Caprice. I'm 19 years old and am planning on moving to Barcelona for 4-9 months for a Spanish Exchange program. Scheduled to leave Feb but can leave early if arranged. I have over 4 years of experience in child care. I've been babysitting for 3 and have 2 years of experience doing various youth cheer coach volunteering. I also took 2 years of child development in high school. I am super laid back, caring, and creative. My favorite part about working with kids is being around these little humans with full hearts and pure intentions and giving them the tools and outlets to express themselves while having them engaged in some stimulating activity. This can be dancing, reading, yoga, arts, crats, creating a game or obstacle course, etc. I also try to encourage them to be good community members, teaching them about love, kindness, acceptance, and being aware of others in their community. My number one goal is to make sure I feel like a safe space for them, and that extra support for parents. 

My classes are Mon-Fri 9am-1pm, or 11am-3pm so I am available any time after that. I ask for Saturdays off, but don't mind picking up a couple. I can stay over night as well. I am comfortable with pick up or drop off, like house keeping, cooking or meal prep, errand running, laundry etc. anything really. I am asking for around $10-12 an hour and at least. I am flexible :) excited to be the newest member of the family, hahaha

Huggins Family(2018-2021): Summer babysitter to the Huggins Family, an 8-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, light housekeeping, activity building, cooking, pick up/drop off, errands and outings

Joy Family(2021): watched over a 3-year-old while his parents worked remotely from home 3 days a week. I mostly just kept him busy by playing and reading. 

Youth Cheer Coach (2017-2018): Volunteer coach for Impact Athletics Youth Team (3-5-year-olds). Had to come up with routines, create incentives, learn how to keep them engaged and focused, and coached them through either football games or cheer competitions

I am a second-year college student, studying life and wellness coaching. I transfer over to my Bachelor's program next year at MIU. In the recent past, I attended a study abroad program in Costa Rica and gained real-world experience, and left with a 3.2 GPA. I am taking the next term off to learn Spanish :)
