Bruce McCollaum

I am an experienced and skilled educational research, evaluation, and measurement professional. I am also an experienced teacher and mentor. I have 30 years of experience in the field of education. I also have extensive overseas experience working in South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Qatar, Vietnam, and England. I have an eclectic background in psychology, linguistics, education, research, evaluation, and assessment. 

I’m an educational researcher, evaluator, and international educator with over 30 years of experience across diverse cultural and institutional contexts. My career has taken me to South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Qatar, Vietnam, and England, where I’ve led academic programs, taught across disciplines, and consulted on assessment, curriculum development, and teacher training. I bring a multidisciplinary background in psychology, linguistics, education, and research methodology, with deep expertise in survey design, psychometrics, and evidence-based decision-making.
Currently, I serve as a survey researcher and data analyst in the Office of Decision Support at the University of South Florida. I lead institutional survey initiatives, design instruments, and produce actionable reports for senior stakeholders. I’m also a Ph.D. candidate in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Educational Measurement and Evaluation, and I expect to complete my degree in Spring 2026.
Previously, I worked as an assessment specialist and statistical analyst at USF’s Undergraduate Studies and Global Citizens Project, where I authored accreditation reports and conducted predictive analytics to support student success. At UNC Greensboro, I taught graduate-level statistics and research methods, advised thesis and dissertation candidates, and contributed to instruction in structural equation modeling.
Internationally, I’ve held roles in program coordination, faculty development, and instruction in English for Academic Purposes, psychology, and general education. I’ve developed syllabi, led faculty teams, and designed intensive training programs for universities in Asia. I’ve also published peer-reviewed research in psychology and cross-cultural studies.
I’m passionate about integrating methodological rigor with practical impact, and I thrive in cross-cultural, data-driven environments that value innovation, strategic planning, and educational equity.

I’m currently a Ph.D. candidate in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Educational Measurement and Evaluation at the University of South Florida, and I expect to complete my degree in Spring 2026. I previously completed ABD status in Educational Research Methodology (2015) and earned an M.S. in the same field (2012) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I also hold an M.A. in Applied Linguistics (2006), an RSA CELTA certification in English Language Teaching to Adults (1996) from Cambridge University, and a B.A. in Psychology (1994) from The Richard Stockton University of New Jersey.
