About Brianna Steward:
As of 2024, I have completed a MS in molecular biotechnology from Northeastern University and am eager to step into the industry. I most recently completed a co-op on the vector engineering team at Ring Therapeutics which consisted of cell culturing, transfection, primer/probe design, and qPCR. Prior to this co-op, I have completed two work internships in both the biochemical and the biotech field; the most exciting of which was a research position focused on the innovative world of cultured meat. In addition to work internships, I was also able to complete three years of working as a research assistant in the molecular biology lab during my undergraduate studies at Millersville University during which I aided in the research of genetic adaptation of local mustard plant species.
In addition to the skills gained during my co-op, I have experience in DNA isolation and purification, PCR, gel electrophoresis, in-situ hybridization, and spectrophotometry.
Personally, I find the field of biotechnology thrilling, and am greatly interested in stepping further into the research and development of gene therapies. In addition to this, I also have great interest in the application of Cultured Meat into the biomedical sphere, as well as for the future of long-term space travel exploration.
Experience
Most recently I completed a co-op on at the Vector Engineering team at Ring Therapeutics. During this experience, I primarily was responsible for cell line maintenance, transfection of mammalian cell lines, qPCR, and designing primer/probes for testing. Prior to this experience, I worked as a research intern for the Cultured Meat Symposium; the largest conference in the US dedicated to the newest innovation in the field of lab-grown meat. Additionally, I interned at FreeFlow Medical Devices LLC, which was a biochemical company that developed water-proofing solvents.
Education
In Dec 2023, I completed a Master of Science in Biotechnology at Northeastern University with a focus in Molecular Biotechnology. Prior to moving to Boston, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology at Millersville University, with a minor concentration in Biochemistry.
