Brett Palmero

I am a graduate researcher in the Tullman-Ercek lab studying the subcellular spatial organization of metabolic pathways in bacteria. I aim to engineer this spatial organization to enhance the yield of metabolic pathways used in biomanufacturing. After my PhD, I want to pursue a career as a faculty member of instruction who employs active learning and constructivism in the classroom. 

I have completed 3 pedagogy focused programs from the Searle Center at Northwestern University (NU). With the lessons from these programs, I developed and taught two classes at NU as the instructor of record.

I have around 8 years of primary research experience in molecular biology and protein engineering. I have been trained to write and edit proposals and publications, mentor students, and design rigorous experiments for my work. My work has led to 5 publications across cancer therapeutics, telomere maintenance, and subcellular spatial organization in bacteria.
