About Bahati Kanyamanza:
A nonprofit leader with about 20 years of professional experience in the nonprofit sector. I have experience in social entrepreneurship, leadership, program development and management, M,L&E and fundraising. Policy advocacy and institutional engagement. Throughout my career, I have worked with displaced communities (refugees) in East Africa and the U.S.

I hold a Master of Arts in Sustainable Development and Bachelor Laws
Policy development and advocacy especially with international organizations, NGOs, governments, and
multilaterals institutions
Passionate and highly skilled and knowledgeable in policy advocacy, livelihoods, poverty eradication and
community mobilization to address critical problems affecting the world today such as poverty, conflict,
and gender-based violence.
I have demonstrated leadership and entrepreneurship skills over the years by co-founding CIYOTA a
successful nonprofit organization educating and empowering refugee communities in Uganda and Eastern DR Congo as well as mentoring young leaders and entrepreneurs who have started 20 organizations addressing critical challenges affecting the African continent in areas of livelihoods/poverty eradication, policy change, GBV, leadership and others particularly in Uganda, DR Congo, and South Sudan.
I have demonstrated resilience navigating new systems and learning languages throughout my 23 years as a refugee both in Uganda and the U. S.
Project planning, management, coordination, and budget tracking/analytical and strategic planning skills
Stakeholder engagement and civil society mobilization and partnerships building
I possess experience in human resource management: hiring, onboarding, and mentoring diverse teams of
different cultural backgrounds, nationalities, and race.
Competent in Microsoft Office skills; Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word,
and the Google suite of applications such as Google docs and sheets – necessary,
especially in a teleworking environment.
Possess great writing skills (published author) and public speaking, translation, and interpretation.
Demonstrated understanding of complex social, economic, and political environment through working
with CIYOTA and Asylum Access, donors and UNHCR
Native speaker of ten African languages spoken in East and Central Africa (Kiswahili, Kinyarwanda,
Luganda and more). Fluent in English and French.
Proven fundraising skills, working with teams to raise over $15M for the initiatives I’m associated with.
