MEDIA CLERK/TEACHER ASSISTANT, CHARLESTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT (MT. PLEASANT, SOUTH CAROLINA)

I am currently a Teacher Assistant working one on one with a disabled child. He is wheelchair bound, non-verbal and has a great deal of physical restrictions. Each day I am able to assist him in communicating. This requires great organization and creativity for him to thrive in school. Prior to this position, I oversaw all aspects of maintaining the library. Responsible for checking out books, shelving books, assisting with library classes and orientations. I am constantly looking for newly published books and series to keep our library up to date with the most popular middle age books. I help run our book fairs in both the spring and fall. Responsible for the set-up and breakdown of materials, distributing marketing materials to assist in increasing sales and running the register during the book fair. During the pandemic my responsibilities were much more than assisting in the library. I was asked to cover classes when teachers were out, cover the front desk when needed and any other unfilled position that presented itself during these uncertain times. This required a great deal of flexibility.

Subbed on a regular basis in classrooms ranging from Kindergarten to 3rd Grade as well as PE, Music, IT and Art class. Successfully managed all aspects of the classroom including: taking attendance, grading papers, working with technology, instructing students on different subject matter, working with administration to resolve conflict all while keeping the classroom safe, clean and organized.

Sold textbooks, digital textbooks and technology into Colleges and Universities in Indiana. I worked with individual professors as well as whole committees on their textbook needs. I sold into several different disciplines within each school. Maintained productive relationships with existing customers with exceptional follow-up. As well as establishing new customers by providing all information on products and services. Was able to address issues and find quick resolutions when problems occurred.

Territory consisted of K-12 schools throughout Virginia, Maryland and District of Columbia. Responsibilities included servicing current customer accounts, field visits, attending conventions and processing orders.
