Architect Equity, El Segundo, CA

Vice President Human Resources (Portfolio Operations), July 2023 to Present

  • Report directly to Managing Partners of Private Equity firm and oversee all aspects of human resources function at five portfolio companies in the fields of manufacturing, aerospace, fumigation, mail distribution, and correctional healthcare.
  • Manage senior human resources leaders at each portfolio company to drive PE strategic and investment initiatives in all areas of business including talent acquisition, organizational development, compensation strategy, and employee relations to optimize company performance and growth strategy.
  • Support due diligence through comprehensive review of risk mitigation and value creation by examining human capital culture, policies and procedures review, compliance to state and federal labor laws, integration challenges, compensation, benefits, and workforce dynamics.
  • Drafted and implemented PE’s HR 100-day plan post-acquisition to ensure complete transition and integration of all human resource functions including payroll, benefits, employee agreements, legal compliance, retention initiatives, metrics, and historical data collection. 
  • Collaborate with legal on to reduce potential litigation and act as liaison between HR, line management, and senior leadership to address complex employee relations issues and implement legally sound resolutions.

Aeromatrix Composites LLC, February 2018 to July 2023(Formerly AAR Manufacturing, Clearwater, FL.  Division purchased by Architect Equity, September 2020)

Vice President of Human Resources, March 2022 to July 2023

  • Reported directly to President and Managing Partners of Architect Equity of newly acquired composites division formerly part of AAR Manufacturing, a global aerospace and defense company for maintenance, repair, airframe, and engine parts with over 20 global locations. 
  • Prior to acquisition I reported directly to the General Manager of AAR’s two composite aerospace manufacturing locations (California and Forida) with over 120 employees while having dotted line reporting to corporate Human Resources Vice President.
  • Promoted to Director Human Resources September of 2020 under new ownership of Aeromatrix Composites.
  • Solely responsible for ensuring the transition of all human resource functions and benefits post-acquisition for new legal entity while retaining 95% of our employees.
  • Led Management team through succession planning training & analysis while completing a talent gaps analysis and succession plan to identify and recruit for growth strategy, human capital, talent acquisition and retention.
  • Initiated Employee Involvement Lunch and Learns improving employee relations and cultivating a high performing organizational culture to implement cross functional training.
  • Ensured full compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, including WARN Act regarding layoffs and closures.
  • Mitigated legal risks related to employee terminations by establishing object and non-discriminatory criteria for layoffs, documenting decisions, and processing severance agreements.
  • Served as primary liaison between leadership and employees through empathetic and consistent communication and shifted focuses from recruitment to providing outplacement resources while maintaining staff levels of 90% as production came to an end.
  • Hired as Senior HR Manager February 2018 for AAR as composites division HR Leader.

Bay Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, PA Port Richey, FL 

HR Director, May 2013 to February 2018

  • Directly report to the Partners of one of the largest privately held Dermatology Practices in the Tampa area with 7 locations in addition to a compound pharmacy, pathology lab, and billing company.
  • Consult on all management considerations regarding administration, budgets, headcount, patient affairs, public relations, marketing, business growth, and operations.
  • Analyze laws, regulations, policies, and technological and administrative advancement trends in order to advise management on operational decisions involving position management, financial management, new and replacement equipment, safety compliance, etc.
  • Provide guidance and comply with all leaves including Fitness for Duty and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) issues. 
  • Apply expert knowledge of the technical aspects of Employee Relations principles and practices, appeals and grievance processes.
  • Develop and train personnel on best practices program for Workers Compensation Programs, OSHA, HIPAA, and CLIA regulations; Reduced Worker’s Compensation claims by 25% within first year of initiative.
  • Identify and provide solutions and sound advice regarding complex confidential issues and concerns where previous actions and established processes required modification.
  • Guide all management personnel on Human Resources principles, techniques, and acceptable personnel practices. Provide technical advice on statutory, regulatory, and procedural requirements. 
  • Review resumes. Interview candidates for all positions including DO, MD, Plastic Surgeons, Dermatopathologists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Office Personnel, and Administrative Personnel.
  • Drafted and implemented HR related policies and procedures and provided guidance on carrying out positive cultural changes in the workplace.

      BELAC LLC, Oldsmar, FL 

     HR Manager, March 2012 to May 2013

       HR Generalist, September 2008 to March 2012

  1. Directly reported to the President of a leading aerospace PMA manufacturer, BELAC.  The company is a Joint Venture with Chromalloy Gas Turbine Corporation.
  2. Partnered with management to ensure proper development and compliance of all company policies including employee hiring, disciplinary action, termination, ethical concerns, and litigation prevention.
  3. Worked directly with the legal counsel to establish legal documentation, timelines, testimony, and records to resolve litigation for a wage and hour dispute from a previous employee which resulted in our favor.
  4. Selected by the Regional Director of HR of Chromalloy to train newly hired HR Managers and Directors. 
  5. Led team in creating Onboarding Program which became the company’s standard operating procedure for newly hired employees nationwide.
  6. Responsible for the coordination and facilitation of Chromalloy’s annual Human Resources Summit.
  7. Assisted Corporate Ethics Compliance Officer in the Spanish translation and interpretation of the Corporate Ethical Concerns and Investigations Manual.

 

          City Furniture, Tamarac, FL

         Operations Service Supervisor, July 2006 to January 2008

  • Administered Human Resource functions including orientation for new hires, benefit issues, performance evaluation, and compliance with positive discipline program.
  1. Only Service Supervisor to be selected for Graduate Level LEAN Master Training Program.
  2. Awarded one of only two training positions to implement the principles of Toyota Production System (TPS) to all 1500 associates. TPS is strictly geared to drive efficiency, increase performance management, and eliminate waste.
  3. Designed and implemented procedural changes, improving “Same Day Delivery” efficiency by 25%. 
  4. Authored Service Technicians Standardized Work Training Manual.
  5. Consulted Executive Management Team on LEAN initiative and conversion strategy.
