Andrea Martinez Vargas

I’m a civil engineer with international experience and a strong academic background. I started my career in Colombia, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and gained hands-on construction management experience. Recently, I completed my Master’s in Civil Engineering  at the University of Illinois Chicago, deepening my skills while improving my English. Now, I’m excited to take the next step in my career here in the U.S. and put my experience to work.

My post undergrad work experience was primarily in construction and civil engineering roles that included a Structural Supervisor position in Cali, Colombia, where I conducted site inspections and ensured design compliance; a Resident Civil Engineer, where I managed infrastructure remodeling projects and handled budget estimates; and an Assistant Engineer, where I supported design reviews and scheduling. I also gained hands-on experience in geotechnical testing as a lab assistant. My technical skills include AutoCAD, GeoStudio, Microsoft 365, and ArcGIS Pro, and I’m proficient in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.

I’m a civil engineer with a BS from Pontificia Javeriana University of Cali in Colombia and a MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois Chicago. At UIC I primarily focused on Geotechnical Engineering coursework but also branched out into areas such as Transportation Engineering.
