About Anders Johnson:
I recently graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology. I aspire to become a general dentist to improve the quality of life of those in my community.
I am a reservist in the United States Marine Corps and work as an Expeditionary Fuel Technician. My role is to install, maintain, and operate tactical fuel systems to provide fuel for ground and aviation operations.
Experience
I recently interned at Children's Dental Services, for over seven months. I have built several, strong connections with staff and have shadowed general dentists, hygienists, assistants, and DTs. These professional relationships drive me to commit to improving my skills for dental school.
My advocacy experience in leadership roles has refined my adaptability to hardships, confidence, and communication skills. My current position in the United States Marine Corps strengthens my adaptability to hardships and confidence in the workplace. In basic training, I was promoted to Squad Leader and held responsibility for 21 other recruits for over nine weeks. During drill periods, I currently lead classes about fuel testing, refuel attack helicopters, and ensure fuel quality is up to par.
I am currently the Outing Coordinator for Uvolunteer; a student volunteering organization at the University of Minnesota. Through this position, I have learned how to simultaneously work with other board members and schedule events with companies. Which has enhanced my communication skills. I have learned the essence of creating a friendly, welcoming environment for students. Ultimately, leading teams in several settings has allowed me to understand the key points in what it takes to be a leader.
Education
I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology this December 2025. In August 2025, I took the Dental Admissions Test (DAT) and received a score of 460 AA. I intend to apply to UMN dental school this upcoming year.
