About Allysa Esguerra:
I’m Allysa Esguerra, a junior majoring in neuroscience with a strong passion for healthcare and hands-on patient care. My curiosity about the human body, especially how different systems work together, grew during my anatomy class, where I was particularly fascinated by the circulatory system and the role of blood in overall health.
In my freshman year, I worked on a project about how COVID-19 impacted adolescents, which was an eye-opening experience that deepened my understanding of public health. I also collaborated on a project exploring Indigenous mental health, which received recognition for its insights. These experiences reinforced my desire to contribute directly to patient care.
As I look ahead, I’m eager to gain hands-on experience in the healthcare field, particularly in phlebotomy, where I can apply my knowledge while developing essential clinical skills. I believe my background in customer service, research experience, and dedication to patient well-being make me a strong candidate for opportunities that will help me grow in the medical field.
Experience
I have over three years of customer service experience, where I developed strong communication and interpersonal skills. I'm currently working at DSW, as well as, at the advising office at the college of education, health, and, human sciences office at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Additionally, my volunteer work in various hospital departments has given me valuable exposure to the healthcare environment, reinforcing my passion for patient care and hands-on clinical experience.
Education
I graduated high school in 2020, and I am a college student currently pursuing my degree in neuroscience at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
