Alisha Ashley

I am an experienced employee and labor relations manager. I've worked in both public and private sector industries, including healthcare, public schools, higher education, and sales and marketing. In my 15+ years as a professional representative for the American Federation of Teachers, I bargained dozens of labor contracts, sitting as Chief Negotiator on four occasions. I am skilled at discreet investigations, employee relations, mediation, and settlement negotiations. I'm looking for a full-time, remote or hybrid position. I'm comfortable in all areas of labor relations, HR functions, personnel management, and engagement.

Previous job titles I've held include Executive Assistant, Executive Director, Executive Vice President, President, Campaign Director, and Organizing Director. In each of these roles, I was expected to assist with employee management in various capacities. One assignment in particular stands out as a summary of my diverse skillset. In 2012, I helped design and scale a statewide membership recruitment program for the Texas AFT. I shepherded a large team of other executives through creating job descriptions and reporting structures, recruiting and screening applicants, a custom-built multi-stage interview process, hiring, onboarding, training, and supervising more than 60 new positions in one fiscal quarter. I continued to serve in a leadership capacity there until 2015, designing and implementing workplace policies, bargaining contracts with the newly-formed staff unions, conducting investigations, and performing the necessary HR functions around staff management, discipline, and terminations. I am proficient in all areas of this discipline, and consider myself an expert employee relations generalist.

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Kansas (2006). Over the course of my career, I've attended dozens of conferences, trainings, and panels germane to the best practices in employee and labor relations management. I've written and conducted many such trainings myself.
