Alexander Reed

Hey, I’m Alexander Reed — a senior at Oregon State University studying Electrical and Computer Engineering, graduating in September 2025. I love working at the intersection of hardware and software, especially when it involves solving real-world problems with smart, hands-on solutions.

Over the past few years, I’ve been lucky to work on a variety of projects, from designing power systems for research drones to optimizing cold plasma jets and automating laser testing setups. Whether I’m prototyping in KiCAD, analyzing signals in MATLAB, or building custom LabVIEW interfaces, I’m most excited when I’m building something that works — and works well.

I've also had the chance to dive into testing and R&D roles at companies like Hewlett Packard and SeaStereo, where I learned how to work closely with cross-functional teams, think on my feet, and contribute to projects that matter.

I’ve worked across various hands-on technical roles, from R&D and lab testing to electronics design and embedded systems development. At SeaStereo, I led the design of modular, efficient onboard electronics for a research drone, including a custom power distribution board and motor optimization for extended flight time. At Hewlett-Packard, I ran rigorous reliability tests on pen technologies, developed improved procedures, and provided actionable feedback to engineering teams. I've also tackled automation challenges, reverse-engineering communication protocols, and building LabVIEW drivers to control complex lab instrumentation.

I'm currently wrapping up my B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Oregon State University, with a focus on embedded systems, power electronics, and automation. My coursework and research have included everything from Verilog-based FPGA design and analog circuits to MATLAB data modeling and full system integration using LabVIEW, Python, and C++. I’ve balanced academics with intensive project work and co-ops, applying what I’ve learned to real-world problems and gaining hands-on experience in industry and research settings.
