Alex Lammers

Hi there! I'm Alex, an Urban and Regional Planning enthusiast currently navigating my academic journey at Florida State University. With a graduation date set for fall 2024, I'm eagerly gearing up to launch my career in a field that merges my passion for creating sustainable, inclusive, and vibrant communities.

My academic and project experiences at both Ohio State and Florida State have fueled my dedication to key issues such as affordable housing, transportation planning, and community engagement. One of my most rewarding projects, RAPID 5, exemplifies my commitment to innovative planning solutions that enhance quality of life for all.

Through my studies and hands-on projects, I've developed a keen understanding of the intricate balance between urban development and community needs. I'm excited to bring my knowledge and enthusiasm to a career that helps shape cities into equitable and thriving environments for everyone.

As a Research Assistant to Dr. Chris Coutts at Florida State University (Spring 2024), I conducted a comprehensive study on cemetery zoning across twelve different case studies in the U.S., analyzing variations in zoning codes and regulations. My findings contributed to a forthcoming zoning practices paper.

In my role as a Research Assistant to Dr. Li Fang (Fall 2022 - Winter 2023), I focused on the Transfer of Development Rights in the U.S., particularly its application to coastal waterfront preservation. My responsibilities included conducting research, developing interview protocols, scheduling and conducting interviews, compiling notes, and writing research papers.

As a master's student at Florida State University specializing in Real Estate Economic Development, I have gained extensive experience in urban and regional planning. At FSU, I conducted research on cemetery zoning and the Transfer of Development Rights, contributing to significant academic papers. I led community outreach for a Rural Outreach Guidance Report and facilitated survey and feedback collection for park improvement projects and ADU policy reviews. My undergraduate projects at Ohio State included enhancing accessibility to the Alum Creek waterway and engaging with the Trotwood community on repurposing a former mall site. These experiences have equipped me with strong research, outreach, and planning skills.
