Akhil Nair

My name is Akhil Nair and am currently a College Student at Arizona State University studying Accountancy. I am currently working at NextCare as a Patient Service Specialist full-time. Working and going to school full time might seem extreme, however the experience has taught me how to manage time and work efficiently, leading to no drop in performance in either category. My manager trusts my skills so much that  she allowed me to start training newly hired employees almost immediately after I completed my 90 days. Part of the reason my performance has been so good was due to my fascination with numbers. From a young age, numbers have always sparked my attention, specifically in word problems where numbers have meaning. Just like in those problems, in the field of Accounting numbers of vast importance are studied and recorded for the benefit of a business and its investors. Because I am both a full-time student and worker, I have had the opportunity to both study and handle monetary transactions and have watched how they directly affect businesses. Although Financial Accounting interests me, my passion is in Forensic Accounting, where the study of monetary accounts becomes more valuable when looking over the validity and legality of those accounts. Despite my busy schedule, I am still able to enjoy my hobbies of playing basketball, going to the gym, and spending time with friends and family to list a few.

I have only worked one job, the current one that I have which is being a Patient Service Specialist at NextCare Urgent Care. I have been working full-time since May of 2023 while pursuing my education. The is a customer service desk job where I work at the front office of the urgent care, where my duties include greeting patients, collecting payments, and aiding them in anyway. The job taught me about insurances and the various types of coverages, monetary transactions, and customer service skills. 

Currently I am a third-year student at Arizona State University, majoring in Accountancy, with a minor of applied mathematics.
