Ahmed Safwat

Ahmed Safwat is a biotechnology and biodefense professional with hands-on experience spanning laboratory science, emergency response, and national security–focused research. With a Master’s in Biotechnology (Biodefense concentration) from Johns Hopkins University, he has developed strong expertise in microbial forensics, biosurveillance, molecular diagnostics, and emerging biological threats. His academic work includes executive summaries, policy analyses, and research papers on topics such as filoviruses, anthrax diagnostics, blood agents, forensic DNA analysis, and plant immune responses. Professionally, Ahmed brings operational capability through his service as a firefighter and EMT in Prince George’s County, where he has built leadership, crisis-management, and incident-response skills.
