About Aaron Soliz:
I am a recent graduate with a bachelor's degree in computer engineering looking for an entry-level position to advance my career in software development. In college, coursework related to high level language programming held my attention and inspired me to stay in the engineering field. Since graduating in 2023, I found my true passion for software development and have dedicated myself to learning full-stack tools. I have grown proficient in front-end tools such as HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as exposure to back-end tools such as Docker and SQL. With these new skills, I have completed some personal projects, each testing my skills in my tech stack as well as my planning and management skills. Currently, I am expanding my learning in AI, cybersecurity, and full-stack development in order to make myself a stronger developer. When I'm not drawing or treating myself to watching the latest blockbuster or renowned classic movie, I am coding something, which means I'm always doing something I love.
Experience
While I have not have professional experience in software development, I have completed projects in academic and personal settings. In my personal projects, I have used mostly frontend tools such as HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and React, but I also have experience in Python and Java. For my frontend projects, I have experience in layout design, utilizing DOM elements, responsive design, and integrating with public RESTful APIs to expand on their functionality. In group projects in college, I have collaborated with version control programs such as GitHub and Jira, and I have documented meetings, test cases, and reports to track our progress.
Education
I graduated from California State University, Sacramento in 2023 and earned a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering. Here, the university taught me about computer components and hardware, operating systems, how to manage projects, and some basics on electronics and circuit theory. I completed most of my coding coursework in Java and C.
I have also earned specialization certificates, IBM Back-End Development and IBM AI Developer, where I took coursework created by IBM on Coursera. In the Back-End Development specialization, I learned how to use Python and gained hands-on exposure to monitoring and observability processes, database technologies such as SQL, and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. In the AI Developer specialization, I learned about how different types of generative AI work, prompt engineering, and how to use the Flask framework on Python.
Additionally, I have taken the time to complete the Pre-Security course on TryHackMe. Here, I expanded my knowledge on Linux commands, how the Internet works, request and response protocols, HTTP request methods, types of topologies, and the OSI Model.
