SURVEY PARTY CHIEF

SPARKS, MD

The Survey Party Chief is a team leader who provides day-to-day supervision of a survey crew. This position plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a one or two-man survey crew to support a broad range of land surveying and related services for federal, state, and private clients. The Survey Party Chief should possess high integrity and an excellent attention to detail to be able to conduct all work in accordance with highest professional standards and company policies, procedures, and programs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrates experience in topographic, control, boundary, ALTA, as-built surveys as well as construction/heavy civil layout for Commercial, Industrial, Residential and Municipal
• Experience performing WSSC, MDSHA and MdTA surveys
• Will accurately run survey measuring instruments including GPS/GNSS equipment and robotic total stations with electronic data collecting
• Participates as required with in-house project planning and schedule development. Responsible for fulfilling schedule obligations. Consults with the supervisor when there are scheduling issues/conflicts.
• Learns all the details of the plans and specifications of the project
• May also perform some office duties, including data reduction, field note reduction, calculations, data checks and staking computations using survey computer programs, Microstation, and
• Keep accurate field notes by recording all important data: date / time, weather, job number, job/client name, description of work, detailed project control sketch, and download file
• Ascertains survey instruments and equipment are properly adjusted and maintained. Ascertains that survey truck is properly
• Ensures client satisfaction in all Client relations and
• Performs other job-related duties as required or
• Direct and Lead in the development of new procedures, equipment and software
• Establishing and maintain standard procedure for field
• Train and mentor instrument operators and other members of the survey department
• Assist office staff in interpreting field survey data to prepare an accurate

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalency (GED)
• Minimum of 5 years of Land Survey related experience including, but not limited to: Maryland based Surveys; Boundary, ALTA and Topographic Surveys; Highway, Commercial and Infrastructure Construction; Bridges and Structural Steel
• Valid driver's license
• Robotic total station and GPS/GNSS experience required. Ability to download/upload survey related information in data collector, as well as to perform necessary calculations to be able to perform required field work
• Basic proficiency in written and verbal business communications skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting contracts and
• Ability to receive written or oral
• Establish and maintain effective working relationship with office and field
• Ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure and professionalism in all situations
• Proficient in MS Office
• PLS or SIT License encouraged
• Occasional overnight stays and travel to and from assigned field sites
