    Job Summary:

    Provides assistance in the execution of research projects within the Argall Lab. Participates in the delivery of services and consultation to researchers and investigators to facilitate technical and specialized scientific research at an entry to intermediate level. Works independently and as part of the lab's team to ensure high quality service for the research community. Responsible for the iterative design and software implementation for project application and GUIs necessary for commercialization of the project.

    Specific Responsibilities :

    Administration

  • Responsible for operation of a specialized research area or laboratory with one or more faculty members within a department. Under the general direction of a senior faculty or staff member, is able to operate with some latitude in unreviewed actions or decisions. Assists senior staff in the daily oversight of operations and/ or projects.
  • Collaboration/Strategy

  • May act as a liaison with other University departments, divisions, researchers and students. Collaborates in the development of new techniques, fabrications, etc.
  • Data Analysis

  • Coordinates data collection and screening and verifies the data. Conducts analysis of data, interprets and implements research methodology based on outcome of analysis. Co-authors publications and may co-present results with Principal Investigator at meetings and/ or conferences.
  • Technical

  • Applies relevant science when collaborating on the development, design, and execution of one or more small or moderately complex research projects or experiments in line with the lab's strategic plan. Reviews progress and evaluates results. Formulates research methods and suggests options for improving quality, identifies potential problems, recommends, and implements solutions.
  • Supervision

  • May supervise non-exempt research and support personnel.
  • Trains and provides oversight to lower-level research lab staff and clients.
  • May provide performance feedback on lower-level research lab staff
  • Miscellaneous

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a bachelor's program or higher degree, with at least two years of relevant domain experience; OR appropriate combination of education and experience
  • Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Data presentation skills;
  • Experimental design ability;
  • Ability to work as part of a project team.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every three years.
  • Degree in Robotics, Computer Science or related field.
  • Track record of successfully integrating software.
  • Strong software development skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time/meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative Mindset with an emphasis on innovation and incremental improvement.
  • Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • C, C++.
  • Python.
  • ROS, ROS2.
  • Iterative and incremental software design and development.
  • Experience in software integration.
  • Target hiring range for this position will be between $55,128 - $77,525 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
