    Under the supervision of the Director of Mental Health Services, the Psychiatrist will provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment/medication in a community Mental Health Article 31 clinic serving ages 4 and up. The Psychiatrist is a Part time position working 1 to 2 days. The Psychiatrist would see clients that are engaged in psychotherapy in the clinic.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The Psychiatrist should have a New York State license and previous experience working with low-income families and individuals, severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of AWARDS electronic health record system, experience working with external systems (e.g. ACS, schools, foster care agencies), bilingual in English and Spanish a plus

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct interviews, mental status assessments, and diagnostic tests to determine diagnosis and current mental health status of clients
    • Manage client medication regimens; prescribe drugs and psychotropic medication treatments as indicated by diagnosis and lab results observe and document client's response to pertinent medications
    • Conduct psychiatric assessments and medication education to clients and families
    • Participate in treatment planning process and crisis intervention services when necessary
    • Complete all necessary written reports in a timely manner and in accordance with program and agency standards
    • Assist patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy for gender identification, culture identification, and ethnicity; respect their confidentiality and privacy and communicate with them in a courteous and respectful manner
    • Take part in an interdisciplinary team approach for effective delivery of clinical services to patients.
    • Uphold professional codes of conduct and ethics as well as all HG policies and procedures
    • Exercise sound judgment as a matter of course, and hold protected health information and other sensitive information in the strictest of confidence in accordance with HG and HIPAA policies
    • Perform other duties as assigned
