    Developmental Department Superintendent – Gurdon, AR

    Georgia-Pacific is looking for a Developmental Department Superintendent at our plywood manufacturing plant in Gurdon, AR. This role involves training to lead a wood products production department to operate safely in a batch manufacturing environment in line with GP's Principle-Based Management (PBM) Philosophy and Framework.

    What You Will Be Doing

    • Continuously emphasize safety as a fundamental value for the business
    • Promote safety excellence through encouraging employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies
    • Conduct safety training for team members
    • Leverage Work Process to develop job plans, monitor work progress, and advocate for preventive and predictive maintenance
    • Ensure efficient and effective operation of all departments
    • Foster team development and growth, evaluate and oversee performance
    • Cultivate employee commitment and accountability, recognize contributions and areas for improvement
    • Supervise work quality, provide guidance to enhance efficiency
    • Help troubleshoot and resolve production issues
    • Handle data entry tasks and generate reports

    Contacts/Interfaces: Engage with key operations personnel like the Plant Manager, Supervisors, Reliability Manager, Human Resources Manager, Safety Manager, Environmental Manager, maintenance staff, and employees at all levels of the site organization.

    Your Background

    Requirements:

    • Three (3) or more years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or military setting
    • Two (2) or more years of supervisory or management experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or military environment
    • Experience in leading a department focusing on EH&S, Reliability, Production, Cost, and Quality Excellence
    • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to learn various PC-based production and operations applications
    • Flexibility to work varying schedules
    • Willingness to work in an industrial manufacturing plant, including loud or extreme temperature areas
    • Demonstrated commitment to safety and promoting safe work practices
    • Experience in employee performance and change management to support our MBM based culture

    What Will Make You Stand Out

    • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical engineering, or related field AND three (3) years of supervisory or management experience in wood products environment -OR- Associate's Degree in a technical field AND five (5) or more years of supervisory or management experience in a wood products setting
    • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) like SAP, MP2, ActivPlant
