    Description

    About the Job:
    Join the team at the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC) dedicated to defending the nation against biological threats. Dive into a role where you'll work alongside a group of scientists in the National Bioforensic Analysis Center (NBFAC) to tackle immunoassay development, toxin detection, and virus characterization while supporting federal law enforcement investigations.

    ROLE OVERVIEW:
    • Develop, evaluate, and optimize immunoassays for toxin and microorganism detection.
    • Participate in casework for viral culture and toxin detection from forensic evidence.
    • Support project management and reporting of results.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • PhD in a scientific discipline or engineering with 2+ years of related experience.
    • Experience in immunoassay development, toxinology, and/or virology.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Organizational skills with experience working independently and in teams.
    • Knowledge of biocontainment facilities, laboratory safety, and decontamination.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances.
    • Participation in relevant programs is required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Develop and optimize toxin and virus identification methods.
    • Work in biological containment laboratories with safety standards.
    • Assist in the management of casework using approved methods.
    • Review and provide input on analytical plans and reports.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Participate in training and quality management.
    • Contribute to project plans and budgets.
    • Test and evaluate new technologies and protocols.
    • Provide analysis, interpretation, and reports.
    • Maintain quality management systems.
    • Direct and provide technical expertise to staff.
    • Be a team player and maintain composure under pressure.
    • Exercise critical thinking to resolve complex problems.
    • Maintain accurate records of analysis.
