Job Summary:

Rice Memorial High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated part-time Spanish Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of the Spanish language, a deep understanding of Spanish culture, an understanding as well as experience with Comprehensive Input (C.I.), and the ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans that cater to students of varying abilities and learning styles. The part-time Spanish Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment, and collaborating with colleagues to promote the overall success of our Spanish language program. Courses would likely include Spanish 2 and Spanish 3 level courses, with 3-4 sections, making this a .4 PT position.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum standards and objectives.
2. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to engage students in meaningful language learning experiences.
3. Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents/guardians.
4. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with varying levels of proficiency in Spanish.
5. Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes cultural appreciation and understanding.
6. Collaborate with colleagues within the World Languages department and across other disciplines to integrate Spanish language and culture into interdisciplinary units and projects.
7. Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues regarding student progress, concerns, and achievements.
8. Stay informed about current trends and best practices in language instruction, actively seeking professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
9. Participate in department meetings, faculty meetings, and school events as required.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the administration to support the mission and goals of Rice Memorial High School and the Diocese of Burlington. Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Valid teaching license/certification in Spanish (or eligibility for licensure/certification).
    • Proficiency in Spanish at an advanced level (native or near-native proficiency preferred).
    • Previous teaching experience at the high school level is preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and engage with students, parents/guardians, and the broader school community.
