    Position Description


    The Garner Lab studies how experience and the formation of memories affects the way sensory information is perceived and how expectations are created and affect neural processing.

    We use a variety of techniques including optical physiology (e.g. 2-photon imaging, widefield imaging, optogenetics) as well as pharmacology, genetics, molecular biology, and behavior in mice to understand and manipulate the remarkable process of perception and plasticity in the brain. We are looking for a Research Assistant who enjoys building, programming, and problem solving.

    This position will include building mechanical and optical equipment in the lab such as a wide field imaging rig and behavioral rigs and running experiments with this equipment.

    Working under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and/or lab manager this individual will perform a variety of experimental and research support tasks.

    Candidates should be comfortable working in python, matlab, or Lab View and enthusiastic about expanding their programming capabilities. Successful candidates will be independent, flexible, self-motivated, and able to assimilate new information and execute quickly.
