    Description

    The Decision and Infrastructure Sciences (DIS) Division at Argonne National Laboratory conducts research and designs and develops solutions to inform decision-making related to the nations most challenging security, risk, and resilience problems. DIS is seeking an emergency management or public policy-oriented analyst to support our growing national preparedness and recovery portfolio. As a multidisciplinary national laboratory, Argonne offers an exciting atmosphere in which to collaborate on interdisciplinary projects, enabling complex problems to be explored through the integrated application of natural, social, and data sciences.

    _In this position, you will:_

    + Analyze national emergency management policy, doctrine, guidance, after action reports, and other relevant documentation to identify key challenges, opportunities, and recommendations for enhancement.

    + Conduct research and analysis on emerging national preparedness and emergency management issues to identify challenges and solutions.

    + Support strategic planning and change management efforts related to national preparedness, disaster recovery, and community resilience.

    + Develop and deliver guidance, technical assistance, resources, and tools to build and sustain emergency management capabilities at the state, local, territorial, and tribal levels.

    + Provide research and analysis assistance to federal agency stakeholders during disaster operations.

    + Present findings from research and analyses to Federal sponsors both orally and in written format (e.g., reports, briefings).

    + Support inter-disciplinary stakeholder engagement processes, to include designing and executing a range of engagement strategies to gather input and secure buy-in from a diverse range of stakeholders.

    **Position Requirements**

    _To be considered you must have:_

    + Bachelors degree (degree in emergency management, public administration, urban and regional planning, communications, English, or a related field preferred, but not required)

    + 2+ years of relevant experience, such as in research and analysis, guidance and report development, or emergency management

    + Strong project management and time management skills

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate complex information in a way that is accessible

    + Knowledge of federal preparedness, recovery, and mitigation assistance programs is a plus

    + Expertise in technical editing, advanced Microsoft Word formatting, and Microsoft PowerPoint is a plus

    + All candidates must pass a general background check and drug screening for employment and may be required to obtain a Q clearance.
