    The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) at the University of California, San Diego play a vital role in perioperative care at UCSD. They work closely with Anesthesiologists to form an Anesthesia Care Team that delivers services across all UCSD medical center campuses.

    Under general supervision, the Nurse Anesthetist provides experienced anesthetic services and airway management at UC Medical Center in Hillcrest, La Jolla Campus hospitals, and other UC San Diego Health locations. This position requires on-call availability, off-shift assignments, and providing anesthesia services to patients of all ages, including handling challenging cases recognized by the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

    Job Title: Nurse Anesthetist

    • Depending on the candidate's experience, the position will be filled at the CRNA or Senior CRNA level.
    • A cover letter, though not mandatory, is highly recommended for applicants.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program.
    • Hold current California RN and CRNA licenses, or obtain them before employment.
    • Possess a valid NBCRNA board certification as a Nurse Anesthetist.
    • Hold BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications upon hire.
    • Background in various medical subjects.
    • Skills in medical information organization and writing.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality.
    • Experience in anesthesia services and patient care.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • At least two years of recent licensed CRNA experience.
    • Experience with complex anesthetic cases and OB anesthesia.
    • Interest in working in an Academic Medical Center.
    • Knowledge of operating room standards and patient-centered perioperative management.
    • Ability to handle central and arterial lines as needed.

    Special Conditions

    • Subject to background check and pre-employment physical.
    • Must obtain and maintain UCSD medical staff privileges.
    • Recent clinical advanced practice experience required.
    • Willingness to work at all UC San Diego Health locations.
    • Availability to work various hours, shifts, and locations.
    • Flexibility to work rotating shifts.

    Pay Transparency Act

    Annual Full Pay Range: $224,878 - $314,808 (prorated if less than 100%)

    Hourly Equivalent: $150.77

    Compensation is determined based on factors such as experience, skills, knowledge, education, and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale is the expected range, considering internal equity and other factors.
