Job Description – English Language (ELL) Instructor, Part-Time for IRISE

Reformed Church of Highland Park Affordable Housing Corporation (RCHP-AHC)

Position Description

The ELL Instructor provides English Language instruction and services to clients of Interfaith-RISE, RCHP-AHC's refugee resettlement program, both online and in-person. Responsibilities include online teaching, language lab assistance, and basic intake assessments. Reporting to the ELL Director, this position is part-time at 25 hours/week.

This position is located in Highland Park, NJ.

Responsibilities

• Teach 3 online, synchronous English language classes for clients via Zoom 2 - 3 times weekly for a total of 9 instructional hours weekly
• Assist clients in digital literacy instruction (keyboarding, computer basics, email) in the language lab onsite in Highland Park on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m.– 12 noon weekly
• Assist the Client Intake Coordinator with English language intakes in person on site in Highland Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 – 2:30m.
• Case note individual client interactions in a timely manner
• Attend monthly IRISE staff meetings and ELL volunteer training as requested by the ELL Director
• Attend biweekly staff meetings and staff development workshops as directed by the ELL director
• Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Excellent written and oral communication skills. A degree in English as a Second Language is preferred. Experience working with refugee and immigrant ELL populations both online and in person. Ability to problem-solve and to work collaboratively, self-motivated with an eye to building partnerships with other community organizations, as we aid clients in integration and self-sufficiency.

Compensation

This position is for 25 hours/week at $29,640/year plus applicable benefits.
