    Bridge Builders Collaborate 7th - 10th Grade Summer Conference CoordinatorVice President of Programs


    PAY RATE:
    $125 daily per conference day and daily per conference training day*Summer conference youth staff are exempt from overtime payaccording to the U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, as Amended WH Publication 1318, revised March 2004.


    POSITION DESCRIPTION:


    The Summer Conference Coordinator supervises the implementation of Bridge Builders grade summer conference for all service members and students; supports onboarding and training of the summer conference team; assists summer conference Team Leads in their leadership development Grade summer leadership conference is located primarily at the Jim Boyd BRIDGES Center and is divided as follows:7th - 8th grade three (3) one (1) week sessions (see dates/time frames below)9th - 10th grade three (3) one (1) week sessions (see dates/time frames below)BRIDGES strives for a service location that is diverse and inclusive.

    BRIDGE BUILDERS LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE OVERVIEW:
    BRIDGES unites and inspires diverse young people to become confident and courageous leaders committed to community transformation.

    As a part of the Bridge Builders Collaborate program level, 1,100 students in grades will connect with other youth from across the mid-south during week-long summer Leadership Conferences.

    The Bridge Builders program uses experiential learning and adventure-based education to provide a learning environment that is both transformational and empowering for youth.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, & QUALIFICATIONS:

    Responsibilities:
    Monitor day-to-day running of conference, including delegating tasks as needed.
    Utilize leadership skills to navigate conflicts with students, staff, and/or service members towards positive outcomes.

    Support members through scheduled service activities, trainings, and member developmentLead morning/afternoon member/staff meetings with support from summer conference Team LeadsMust be present in the assigned conference facility at all times while on dutyMaintain professional boundaries with staff, service members, and conference participants.

    These boundaries are covered in but not limited to the attached Staff/Student Protocol and the Sexual Harassment Handout. Violation of boundaries with either participants or staff will result in immediate discipline up to and including dismissal.

    Adhere to restorative action policies and interventionsCommunicate expectations and responsibilities to staff and service membersCommunicate with community partners, including community service providers & caterersWork with Collaborate Manager, Training Manager, and the Director of Program Development to create schedule based off of curriculumCommunicate with students and parents about conference dates, check-in times, induction ceremonies, and other necessitiesAssist the AmeriCorps Program Manager and Training Manager with planning and implementation of summer member developmentSupport the service member facilitator development and trainingOther duties as assignedQualifications:Be a Positive Role Model for the student participants at the Leadership ConferencesMaintain a high level of professionalism at all timesStrong time management skills and ability to maintain required program documentation and record-keeping.

    Reliable transportation (public or private) is required to arrive at the location as scheduled.

    Effective communication skills such as active listening, body language, clear and concise expectations, etc.; effective interpersonal, intercultural, and leadership abilities.

    Have enthusiasm for coaching and developing the strengths and skills of program participants and service members.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDSCoordinator will regularly participate in high energy activities that require running, stooping, etc.

    Requires ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit departments at the Jim Boyd BRIDGES Center, University of Memphis, community partners, schools, etc.

    While performing duties, the coordinator is frequently required to sit, talk, hear and see.
    The coordinator is required to use hands and fingers and reach with hands and arms.
    The coordinator must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
