    Description
    What to Expect

    Serves as Personal Financial Management Specialist, responsible for the overall management of the installation's comprehensive financial and consumer affairs services to improve active duty personnel, retirees, family members and DoD civilians personal financial status and to enhance their awareness of consumer issues and law and emergency assistance services.

    Plans, directs, and implements comprehensive Personal Financial Management (PFM) education, training, and counseling programs that emphasizes individual financial responsibility and accountability.

    Develops, schedules, and conducts financial classes, workshops, and briefs to include programs that encompass the needs of the focus population:
    active duty personnel, retirees, family members and DoD civilians.
    Develops and implements a program of direct counseling assistance on consumer affairs, debt liquidation, financial counseling, and budget counseling.

    Interviews clients and uses assessment tools and techniques to compile detailed data on assets and liabilities in order to analyze and evaluate the level of indebtedness.

    Consults and briefs commanders, installation leadership, and community at large to keep them abreast of local financial and consumer issues.

    May work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical workweek and work hours. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.
