    Description

    Job Title: Petroleum Engineering Expert at Gas Storage Operations

    Company: Company Name

    Primary Purpose

    • Functions as the company's expert in petroleum engineering, providing technical support within Gas Storage Operations and Reservoir Integrity and Engineering departments.
    • Focuses on workover design and implementation, adhering to SoCalGas standards and API best practices, cost estimation, field work supervision, and regulatory compliance assurance.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Well Work Preparation: evaluates gas storage wells for workover candidates, designs programs for workovers, abandonments, and completions, and monitors daily well operations.
    • Travels to gas storage fields as needed, provides engineering assistance to Well Site Managers, ensures regulatory compliance during operations, and documents daily well records.
    • Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, prepares cost estimates, reviews vendor costs, and provides technical mentorship.
    • Offers technical expertise, advice to junior staff, conducts project close out responsibilities, and stays updated on industry advancements.
    • Performs other assigned duties as necessary.

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related technical field required.
    • Master's Degree in Engineering or technical discipline with business training preferred.

    Experience

    • Minimum 10 years of related engineering experience, including 5 years in oil & gas operations and 3 years in downhole workover operations.
    • Supervision and drilling experience are advantageous.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Ability to evaluate and implement well control measures, proficiency in petroleum software, and strong computer skills.
    • Competence in project management, technical writing, verbal communication, and conflict resolution.
    • Capable of proposing innovative solutions, performing petroleum engineering calculations, and assessing project financial impact.
    • Exhibit leadership, good management practices, and independence in decision-making.

    Other Qualifications

    • Must have a valid California Driver's License or reliable transportation.
    • Well Control Certification and Professional Engineer registration in California are preferred.
    • Subject to random drug testing due to DOT safety sensitivity.
