- Serve as a primary resource on health matters, reviewing such items as physicians' reports on employee health, workers' compensation insurance claims, medical restrictions on employee work, and the policies and procedures for employee
- wellness programs
- Provide first aid and assist employees who are injured or become ill at work
- Document, investigate, and manage work-related injuries and illnesses, including Workers' Compensation claims
- Manage return to work approval process
- Provide support to ensure compliance with select Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) standards
- Develop and implement health promotion programs such as ergonomics, health fairs, awareness campaigns, on-site flu shots, blood drives, exercise, healthy eating programs, etc.
- Perform pre-employment health screening and drug screening processes
- Develop professional relationships with local occupational clinics and collaborate with other Health Care Providers to support the worker through the recovery process
- Participate in applicable safety meetings and investigations
- Maintain medical supplies inventory and inspection
- Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
- Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
- Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required or equivalent, relevant experience
- Current registered nursing license in the state of Michigan
- 3 to 6 + years of occupational health or critical care nursing experience required
- Occupational health and safety experience and OSHA training in a manufacturing environment is desired
- Prior experience with Michigan Worker's Compensation case management and claims management desired
- Experience as a trainer for health and safety topics such as First Aid/CPR, Blood borne Pathogens is preferred
- Knowledge of state and federal laws related to Worker's Compensation, and legislation regarding confidentiality
- Excellent written communication skills and will be expected to document decisions, agreements, and orders created
- Proficient in MS Office Suite or related software
- Communicate effectively with employees, physicians/medical professionals, and other outside parties
- Analyse and make sound judgments to accurately document and maintain appropriate confidentiality of medical records
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support production team and off-hour emergencies
