This job listing is for filling open Journey-level Electrician positions within the Bay Area Region of our service territory, and new positions may open based on business needs.

Department Overview

Electric Operations team ensures safe and dependable electric service delivery to customers. Responsible for all aspects of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance, and construction.

Position Summary

This role is represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) local 1245 with extensive experience at PG&E.

This position may undergo Joint Apprentice Training Committee (JATC) review and approval. Provisional hires will receive targeted training to gain journey-level electrician knowledge.

Maintenance & Construction (M&C)

Journey-level position involving inspection, testing, repair, and replacement of transmission and distribution electrical equipment. Responsibilities include substation switching, electrical maintenance, and field switching for substation assigned work.

Inspect, test, and troubleshoot substation electrical equipment
Install and overhaul electric equipment and machinery
Identify and resolve issues following manuals, specs, and schematics
Operate diverse electrical construction tools and equipment
Perform switching duties for high voltage equipment
Lift a maximum of 100 pounds daily

General Construction (GC)

For GC roles, professionals must be prepared to travel and relocate within the PG&E service territory at any time. Responsibilities involve reading prints, installing equipment and systems, operating construction equipment, and maintaining job site cleanliness.

Review and modify prints and electric schematics
Safely prepare and conduct installations
Use various tools for system installations and equipment handling
Operate construction equipment if qualified
Perform excavation and compaction work
Maintain clean and safe work area
Overtime may be necessary

At PG&E, the hourly rate mentioned is an estimate at the time of posting. Collective bargaining agreements may influence the final wage. The starting wage for this position is $66.08 per hour, varying by locality and considering skills, education, and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum 18 years old
High School diploma or GED
Valid California Class C Driver's License
Completion of a Union Sanctioned Inside Wireman Electrician Apprenticeship
Work in all weather conditions and locations
Willingness to travel and relocate for GC positions
Flexibility for extended hours and varying schedules
Ability to work in remote areas with potential exposure to hazards
Wear provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Pass provisional training plan within 12 months if hired provisionally
CA CDL Class A Permit or equivalent

Desired:

3-5 years of Journey level experience in electrical construction
Experience in PG&E construction or utilities
Knowledge of electronic or mechanical equipment
Instrumentation and Control experience
Motor Control experience
Electrical Substation or Power Generation experience
High voltage experience
Experience with testing equipment and troubleshooting
