    Works under the supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Manager and is responsible for safe and sanitary food preparation, proper maintenance of service utensils and small equipment, restocking and cleaning duties, cash register operation, and customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Employment Type: Part Time

    Shift: 4:30-8:30pm (2-3 weekday shifts)

    Weekly Scheduled Hours: Average of 8 hours

    Weekend Frequency: Every other weekend

    Food Safety and Sanitation:

    • Safely handles food in accordance with established FDA and MDA guidelines and practices.
    • Follows daily sanitation schedule in performing assigned cleaning duties.
    • Performs "clean as you go" activities and maintains high level of cleanliness in assigned work area.
    • Washes dishes, utensils and equipment.
    • Operates dish machine.
    • Returns clean items to assigned storage areas.
    • Ensures that all food is properly labeled, dated, and rotated.
    • Collaborates with other areas of the department to minimize food waste.
    • Maintains proper hand hygiene.
    • Cleans and sanitizes all equipment after use.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Patient Services:
    • Efficiently assembles/delivers trays for patient meal service.
    • Restocks work area/unit pantries/carts to be ready for next meal period.
    • Answers phones using proper phone etiquette.
    • Assembles late trays based on patients prescribed diet orders.
    • Preps cold items for patient meal service ( salads, cold plates, fruit, desserts, sandwiches).
    • Works as a team with other patient services staff to ensure the timely delivery of meals to patients.
    Cafe:
    • Assists customers with meal choices and selections.
    • Serves hot and cold food items to customers.
    • Preps cold food items for grab-n-go areas (salads, sandwiches, parfaits, fruit, vegetables, etc).
    • Prepares grill and fryer items.
    • Keeps hot, cold, and dry foods stocked and organized for service.
    • Displays appropriate signage for each meal period.
    • Accurately and efficiently runs the cash register following proper cash handling procedures.
