    About the Position
    The Associate Director of Prospect Research is a key partner within Haverford College's Institutional Advancement division. This individual will be responsible for creating optimal portfolios, identifying and evaluating strategic prospect pipelines in relation to fundraising opportunities, and building and utilizing prospect management tools effectively including training others.

    Primary Responsibilities
    • Build regional and initiative-based prospect portfolios for front-line fundraisers, meeting regularly with the Director of Prospect Research and Management and other IA colleagues to review, rate, and assign new prospects
    • Conduct in-depth biographical and financial research through a variety of sources including but not limited to periodicals, financial vehicles, newspapers, data source searches, in-house files and census, obituaries, and consultation with other Haverford staff
    • Leverage data from internal CRM (Raiser's Edge/NXT) and external vendors to identify prospects for specific fundraising priorities, event invitations, and leadership roles, and establish, document, and provide training on procedures
    • Maintain, update, and analyze prospect information in Raiser's Edge system
    • In collaboration with Advancement Operations colleagues, assist in wealth and philanthropic evaluations on prospects including data mining projects and vendor screenings to proactively identify new major donor prospects and assigning them to development staff
    • Assist with preparing briefing materials for the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the College President, and other College leadership
    • Collaborate on preparing Prepare engagement summaries, briefing materials, biographical synopsis, and philanthropic snapshots on prospects for colleagues across the College including the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the College President, and other senior leaders
    • Other duties as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of this position
    Line of Report: The Associate Director of Prospect Research reports to the Director of Prospect Research and Management. This position does not have any direct reports.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
    • Two (2) years of experience in advancement, research, or related field
    Professional Competencies
    • Experience in uncovering and evaluating information through online research with the ability to identify new prospects both through proactive (researching and identifying prospects from various sources, including electronic, in-house and text materials) and reactive (responding to requests for information from others) research
    • Ability to analyze and synthesize information from a variety of sources and to provide an accurate evaluation of a prospect's gift potential
    • Familiarity with current research techniques and resources, including electronic and print databases
    • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple constituent groups and with highly sensitive information
    • Effective communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into distillable snapshots
    • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to social, cultural, and economic differences and partner across diverse constituencies while exhibiting sound judgment with confidential information

    • Demonstrate advanced-level technical/computer skills that include proficiency with standard applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google)
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with ResearchPoint or other research software
    • Experience creating queries, exports, and reports
