    The

    Engineering Manager


    provides management review and control over engineering work, including development of projects, structures, or processes as part of multiple major engineering programs.

    This managerial position usually integrates several specialized areas of engineering to serve a particular business unit.

    In addition to managerial tasks, this individual also demonstrates authoritative technical leadership with creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment as they anticipate and direct solutions to unprecedented engineering problems.

    This individual is often at the forefront of customer and supplier interactions essential to the success of the business.

    This individual supports the Engineering department through mechanical or electrical engineering of assemblies, components, and test equipment of aerospace restraint systems.

    The Engineering Manager Coordinates with company personnel, customers, and outside sales representatives to ensure compliance with the regulations and customer requirements for restraint systems.


    Essential Functions:


    Focuses on managerial concerns over multiple concurrent engineering projects and programs such as cost, completion date, and resource allocation; determines program objectives and requirements; develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities; provides expert resolution of issues and monitors integration of work.

    Cultivates new and fosters existing customer and supplier relationships while maintaining oversight on critical or sensitive intercompany interactions.

    Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key engineers and officials of other organizations and companies, requiring skilled persuasion and negotiation of critical issues.

    Reviews technical concepts of major projects. Personally, participates in solving particularly difficult technical problems.

    Guides development of and contributes to inventions, new designs, or techniques that are regarded as major advances in the field.

    Conceives and plans investigations of broad areas of considerable novelty and importance to the overall engineering program for which engineering precedents are currently lacking.

    Responsible for recruitment, succession planning, performance reviews, and training needs.

    Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with co-workers, suppliers, management, and customers in a team environment.

    Manages subordinate supervisor(s) who supervises nonexempt associates. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.

    Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Domestic and international travel up to 30%.


    Required Education and Experience:
    Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, aerospace or related engineering from a 4-year accredited university or college.
    Minimum 15 years of related work experience.
    Proficient in the use and or management of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ANSI Y14.5 Drafting Standards.


    Preferred Experience:
    Leading engineering teams / programs.
    Working knowledge of aerospace and FAA requirements.
    Subject matter expert in field.
    Actively involved on industry committees such as SAE.
