- Assist nursing staff with patient care in the surgical suite
- Manages equipment and supplies in preparation and during surgical procedures o Assist in opening the sterile supplies in preparation for the surgical case o Assist in assuring that surgeon preferences are accessible and current; assist the RN in selecting equipment and supplies o Assure all equipment is functioning before use, removing any malfunctioning equipment from OR per hospital policy o Assist in assuring that emergency equipment and supplies are available at all times o Handle and count sponges, sharps and instruments o Handle and store sterile/unsterile supplies using established principles of aseptic technique Qualifications/Experience Education/Accredited Programs
- License Practical Nurse (LPN) or completion of OR Technician Program required
- Current certification of surgical technologist preferred Experience/Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with other patient care staff, patients and physicians
- Ability to work effectively with other nursing staff, patients, physicians, and members of other departments under the direction of an RN
- Ability to recognize patient care problems, react appropriately in patient care emergencies and communicate pertinent information to the responsible RN
- Ability to complete basic mathematical calculation
- Dependable, alert and adaptable to change in situations

Salary Range * The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $23.27 to $39.41 per hour.
Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
