    Position Summary:


    The Director of Sales & Marketing is directly responsible for directing the overall sales efforts and servicing for the complex.

    This person will represent all ownership assets in terms of public relations, community outreach and networking as well as being the brand ambassador.

    This key role will be the main driver in guest experience and satisfaction. They will also support the General Manager in marketing, public relations, e-Commerce and revenue management. Department goals are focused on efforts to maximize property sales revenue and profitability expectations for the overall operation.

    Must solicit, develop, and maintain business in assigned segments, ensure excellent relationships are maintained with existing and potential accounts, with the primary goal of building and increasing revenue in all areas of the business.

    Responsible for the success of sales-driven programs through the direction and daily monitoring and supervision of staff.

    Essential Position Responsibilities:
    Sales & Marketing

    Negotiate and contract group business across all market segments in a viable and profitable manner.

    Provide insight and direction to all transient sales-driven programs.

    Achieve established booking goals in order to meet or exceed property budget.

    Ongoing prospecting (inside and outside calls) effectively presenting ideas to target audiences with a strong verbal and presentation presence.

    Follow up on all leads and inquiries with appropriate action in a timely manner, generating correspondence, proposals, and contracts.

    Maintain and service in-house groups before, during and after group events.

    Actively participate in all marketplace community and networking events presenting the property in a proactive and professional manner.


    Plan attendance and outline goals and steps necessary to achieve return on investment with respect to trade/travel shows and special events.

    Work with GM and ARM management to analyze, critique and propose marketing programs while maintaining advertising budgets.

    Ongoing development and solicitation to property e-mail database.

    In conjunction with GM, create ideas and outlines for collateral, flyers, and marketing brochures as needed.

    Work with management to develop and implement a public relations campaign designed around initial awareness then long-term brand development.

    Stay abreast of marketplace competition maintaining and updating a SWOT analysis.

    Participate in the development and completion of the annual Budget and Sales & Marketing Plan.

    Document all sales calls and other sales activities in weekly call reports. Complete all forms and reports (Calls Reports, Lost Business, Contracts, etc.) following company procedures.

    Attend meetings, events, and programs on behalf of the management as needed.

    Operate Sales & Marketing Department within budgeted expense guidelines.

    Maintain Group bookings per established guidelines. Develop and establish group selective sell guidelines in conjunction with General Manager and Vice President Sales & Marketing.


    Assist in the training and development of all property support personnel in order to ensure the level of guest services in a superior fashion.

    Any other duties or responsibilities, as assigned by the General Manager and Vice President of Sales & Marketing.


    Analyze and understand industry trends, with a focus on sales transient and group business, including booking trends, reports, historical patterns, and literature.

    Recognize lead sources, occupancy trends, and key information.

    Prepare and distribute all regular and special sales / marketing reports, including Weekly & Monthly Sales Reports.

    Produce and revise day action plans to meet budgeted goals.

    Mobility to move about the property to conduct site tours and meetings.

    Ability to travel off property, as needed, to conduct sales calls, attend meetings and events.

    Occasional travel to feeder cities for sales calls, seminars, trade shows, and corporate meetings through the year.

    Reimbursement of mileage used on personal car for sales calls is reimbursed at established rates; meals incurred entertaining clients during sales calls; air fare and rental car or transportation expenses incurred during company business (expense reports are required and must be signed by the General Manager and the Vice President of Sales).
