- Supports beam-line operations, fabricates and prepares assemblies, prepares and monitors procurement of system components, and assembles and tests components and systems.
- Participates in assembling all of the above into a functioning whole.
- Provides repairs and maintenance as part of x-ray beam-line development and operations as well as visiting user experiments.
- Experience in supporting and operating complex and large-scale instrumentation in a scientific user environment.
- Knowledge of equipment design, maintenance, and techniques for diagnostics relating to beamline operations.
- Knowledge of interactions with scientific staff and users.
- Knowledge of mechanical design and fabrication, also vacuum technology, motion control, electronics, and computers.
- Skills in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and can exercise independent judgment in technical problem-solving.
