- Develop an expertise in the names assigned and the Technology equities traded.
- Generate desk-driven trading ideas within the Technology sector.
- Communicate internal commentary and recommendations to sales, trading and research through internal notes.
- Serve as a communication line to buy-side traders as well as portfolio managers/analysts, strengthening the partnership between sales and trading.
- Cover a core group of Technology clients. Know our customers and understand the philosophy of the client.
- Deliver sector-specific expertise and focus to Technology client touch points as part of RBC's platform relationship model.
- Develop and foster strong working relationships with traders, sales traders
- Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
- Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
- Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.
- The work environment is based on an office/trading floor, thus little physical effort is required
- The office environment can be a high stress environment that requires quick turnaround and decision making
- Working with the Trading staff requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to "think outside the box"
- BA, MA or MS or equivalent with a general understanding of Equity Capital Markets
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office and PowerPoint
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Series 7 and 63 required.

What is the Opportunity?
The Desk Sector Strategist, within U.S. Cash Equity Sales, will work directly with the Technology/Media/Telecom trading team, the coverage research teams, sales, and ECM in a desk sector strategist capacity within the Technology sector. The Desk Sector Strategist role will be considered for the title of Vice President, Director or Managing Director depending on candidate experience.

Front Office:
Authorities, Impact, Risk: The candidate will report to Justin Spitzer and will create a new role as a desk sector strategist within the Technology sector on the trading desk.
Key Relationships: The candidate will work directly with position traders in the Technology pod, the Head of Trading, as well as U.S. Equity Sales and Trading staff, the Regulatory Risk staff, ECM, and research analysts.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $210,000 - $400,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
