    Primary Responsibilities

    In the role of Senior Project Manager, we'll count on you to:

    Function as a business class technical leader and take responsibility for technical delivery, business development, client management, staff development, and production/delivery on projects in addition to management responsibilities
    Technical delivery and oversight of traffic and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects including QA/QC
    Advancing the area's capabilities to deliver traffic/ITS projects
    Mentoring and training technical staff

    Will be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews and will represent HDR as a senior technical resource in front of clients and during coordination of pursuit related work.

    Provide oversight and/or manage transportation technology, traffic, ITS, and transportation system management & operations (TSMO) projects including Planning, Engineering, Design, Integration, Deployment, Operations and Maintenance, Communications and overall Management.

    Develop practice areas related to transportation technology, traffic safety, ITS program management and oversight, TSM&O, Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), Transportation Management Centers (TMC), Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS), Managed Lanes, Automated Connected Electric and Shared (ACES) vehicle technologies, Wrong-Way Detection Systems, and associated performance measures.

    Develop Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) design packages, systems engineering analysis, ITS Architectures, and Concept of Operations

    Design and implement national TSMO & ITS standards and best practices in the areas of highway safety technologies, open road tolling, active traffic management, communications systems, and traffic management systems.

    Manage and conduct highway safety projects including highway safety manual studies, road safety audits and developing best practices for safety for DOT and municipal clients.

    Integrate and provide technical expertise on various Traffic Engineering operations & design projects as it relates to countermeasure solutions to address mobility and safety.

    Participate in ACES vehicle projects and emerging technology projects nationally.

    Design and implement central/field communications, traffic control equipment, communications devices, traffic controller hardware and software, transit signal priority, CCTV cameras, DMS, traffic detectors, and electronic tolling equipment.

    Assist with the development of local transportation program and serve as a technical expert nationally. Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts
    Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, typically involving a large project staff
    Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
    Leverage work-share opportunities and coordinate workload with business class managers
    Implement, monitor and support company policy including QA/QC procedures
    Support the selection, training, and mentorship of staff and manage technical personnel
    Perform other duties as assigned
    Project based travel will be required
    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Traffic, Electrical or Civil Engineering
    10 years of related experience working on large, complex transportation technology-related projects with strong project management background, with in-depth of area's DOT, Toll Road Authority, and municipality practices
    A minimum 5 years project management experience
    PE license in Texas or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months
    Extensive transportation safety experience including predictive safety on various interstate projects and utilizing FHWA's best practices for safety evaluation.
    Experience in industry standards and currently active and transforming transportation technologies, including ITS, connected, automated, electric, and shared mobility, smart infrastructure, data analytics, and other kinds of traffic management technologies
    Proven leadership, business development and mentoring skills
    Attendance and leadership role in local professional organizations - Traffic, ITS & Transportation Technology
